How is paper made?

How is Paper Made?
Some paper is made from trees - either little trees grown just for that purpose, or from scraps left over when larger trees are made into lumber. A second kind of papermaking material is recycled fiber.First, workers cut down trees, mostly from tree farms made specifically for making paper. The logs are takento the paper factory where they are washed to rinse away dirt before being turned into wood chips like on playgrounds. The chips sorted and moved to the pulping machine,

where they will be turned into pulp. In the pulping machine, the wood chips are smushed smashed pulled and pounded until they make a kind of wood/paper/pulp soup. In order for the paper soup to work properly, all the wood fibers in the wood chips have to be seperated from each other. When the pulp is ready it has to be pressed through machines that will squeeze all the water out of the mix and make it into what the paper will mostly be made of. First papermakers spray the pulp onto a screen then water drains out the bottom. after the pulp is in an even layer it is passed through felt sheets that help soak up all the excess water. Lastly the paper is sqished through big metal cylanders filled with hot steam. The last of the water is evaporated and the paper is shaped up so the edges are even, then rolled into gigantic rolls that are then cut and shipped out to be used.
